The Art Institute of Seattle recently hosted Mod Explosion: Americana Luxury Handbags, an instillation of designer handbags from the Mod Fashion era. The event was curated by The Victoria Stowe Collection. Victoria Stowe is a published fashion historian and leading expert in the history of American legacy brands specializing in luxury handbags.
The Seattle fashion community visited The Art Institute of Seattle to view the collection of vintage designer handbags. The event included a talk from Victoria Stowe and concluded with a decorative cake designed and baked by the school’s Baking & Pastry students. The specialty cake was designed to look like a vintage Gucci handbag.
The instillation and opening event was produced entirely by students in the school’s Bachelor of Science in Fashion Marketing & Management program’s 3D Visual Merchandising class, taught by Yuliya Suleymanova—an instructor and co-founder of Suley Group/Suley Era.
