Looking for a delicious meal and a great deal? Try lunch or dinner at The Tutored Chef, the student-run restaurant at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Tampa, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design. Students in their final quarters in the culinary programs handle both kitchen duties and front of house hospitality under the watchful eye of the chef faculty – and the public can come sample the delicious results.

The current dinner menu features entrees like braised Grilled Lamb, with Israeli Couscous Salad, Shaved Radishes and Chimichurri Sauce or a Sautéed Sea Scallop, Saffron Risotto Cake, Lima Beans and Tomato Relish, and Leek Oil. There are appetizers and desserts to complement any of the entrees. The menu changes every three weeks to reflect local and seasonal ingredients.

The Tutored Chef is open for lunch from noon to 2pm on Wednesday and 11:30am to 2pm on Thursday and Friday. The restaurant is open for dinner on Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A la carte prices for lunch start at a reasonable $3.00 with dinner items starting at just $5.95. The restaurant also offers three, four and five-course dinner meals for $13.95, $15.95 and $17.95 respectively, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are encouraged. For reservations, call 813.393.5395.

Chef Clyde Tanner, academic director of Culinary, commented, “Our students put all their skills to work under the direction of our faculty in order to produce inventive and quality dishes for guests to enjoy. We invite the public to stop by for lunch or dinner to enjoy and experience our students’ culinary skills and creativity. We are confident that the meal will be one to remember.”
