Tony Weldon
Graphic & Web Design
Adjunct Faculty
The Art Institute of Tampa, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design
Teaching Approach:
I enjoy showing students how to use computer software programs and, even more, how to think critically and make correct decisions when using them. I also enjoy showing students how each program is separate, yet must be used together to achieve desired results.
On the other hand, when instructing students about traditional art materials, I aim to make them aware of the light source and how it interacts with the subject. This is incredibly important to me because I believe that showing students drawing and painting techniques opens their minds to new ways of expressing themselves
Industry Experience:
I graduated from Reinhardt University with an Associate Degree in Fine Arts. I then graduated from Ringling College of Art & Design with a Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration and Graphic Design. I’m incredibly proud that some of my artwork is part of a permanent collection at The Smithsonian in The National Museum of the American Indian. I also have two pieces on permanent display at The Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Georgia.
Aside from teaching, I’m very active in the Fine Arts community and in the Graphic Design field. A few of my clients include Coca Cola, Nascar, ESP, MLB, NFL, The Allman Brothers Band, ICP, Godsmack, the Beastie Boys, Heineken, CDC, Aaron Rents, Solar Swimwear Medusa Imp, The Home Depot, Remington, VF Imagewear and Fanatics Sports. And, I currently specialize in made-to-order custom artwork for Harley-Davidson dealerships around the world.
