According to the Vancouver Economic Commission, Vancouver is the third largest film and TV production center in North America, and now actors will have a new place to hone their craft. Beginning this fall, The Art Institute of Vancouver will offer certificate programs in Acting. Headed by award-winning actor and director Bill Dow, they are comprehensive programs that cover aspects of theater, film and voiceover acting to create a comprehensive curriculum.

The programs are progressive and can be completed in as little as five quarters. After successful completion of each self-contained quarter, students receive a certificate of completion.

Joining Bill Dow, is a prestigious line-up of instructors, including Lois Anderson, who will be fresh off a run of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at Alberta Theatre Projects; Raïna Von Waldenburg, who taught a physical approach to acting at New York University’s Tisch School for the Arts for the past 17 years and received a 2012 Innovative Theatre Award nomination for “Outstanding Solo Performance”; Andrew McIlroy, a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and on-set coach for Disney blockbuster Tomorrowland; and Alison Matthews, voice and text coach for the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival and working actress, who has worked as a professional voiceover artists for 19 years.
